Multiple - Health Status Array Change Occurred (11020)

$

I have a few servers which are filling the informational log file with lots of messages saying the following

Health Status Array Change Occurred (11020)

I found an advisory saying that this happens with with ilo 4 verion 1.22 or less, as in the link below

http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c03961195-1

Most of these servers have a higher version than 1.22, so the question is, Can i make sim just ignore this alert and not fill up the events with this alert?

Thanks

i've attached a screen shot of the errors i'm seeing

But it doesn't mater if i type the server name, localhost etc, and i just geta  message saying unable to connect to VCRM. Even though its on the same server. Am I doing something wrong?

Event Severity Built In Alerts

Hi All,

I know you can change the event severity for some alerts by changing the MIB/Trap settings.  My question is, can you change the event severity for generated by HP SIM?  For example, if a data collection retries HP Insight Manager generates a minor event.  I'd love to be able to change an event like this to informational.  Ideas?

Version Control Respository Manager - "The specified repository is invalid or not reachable"

I've been racking my brain on this one.  I set up VCRM on a server a few months ago and was getting "The specified repository, [server], is invalid or not reachable".  After a couple of months of research, I find a post that suggests doing these command lines:

C:\HP\hpsmh\bin>smhconfig.exe -Z ALL:!ADH:!EXPORT56:!EXPORT40:DES-CBC3-SHA:RC4-MD5:RC4-SHA:RC4+RSA:+HIGH:+MEDIUM:-SSLv2:+EXP:!LOW:!eNULL:!aNULL

C:\HP\hpsmh\bin>smhconfig.exe -r

At first, this didn't seem to work.  Then one day it did and the server was working fine for a few months.  Now I'm getting the same error message.  The above fix does not work.

Tried installing on different servers, no luck.  Checked firewall, no change.  Tried IP and fqdn.  Made sure have latest SMH and VCRM.

Any ideas?

Thanks

When I try and install HP Insight Manager 7.4 on a Domain Controller running server 2012, I keep getting the following  error. All pre-requisites are installed. Can anyone help in getting it installed or am I using the wrong product.

HP Systems Insight Manager Installer detected an unsupported operating system. For installation to proceed further, you must have a supported operating system. Refer to the HP Insight Management Support Matrix to review list of operating system requirements.

Thanks

HP ProCurve 2530 Switch and HP SIM - SNMP Traps - Unregistered Events

$

Hi all,

I have configured HP SIM (version 7.4.0) to receive traps from our ProCurve 2530 switches, however, whenever a trap is sent, it is sent as an "Unregistered Event".

How do I get HP SIM to work interpret the HP ProCurve 2530 traps correctly? I figured the trap receiver was HP software and the switches are made by HP, all would work fine!

The message about MIBs states that:

A genericUnregistered trap signifies that a system has sent a trap to the management server for a MIB that has not yet been compiled. Try compiling any MIBs from the vendor for this system to obtain additional information. See Details for more information.

So I'm guessing there may be files out there that I can import into HP SIM to make this work, but I am unsure where to start. Has anyone experienced this and does anyone know of a workaround?

Thanks,

Kim

Hey Guys,

I am having a tonne of problems setting up a new instance of SIM and VCEM.

When I install SIM it can then not be contacted for the rest of the install and fails to install VCEM and everything else.

I cannot login to the console after this install. Service is started but it is not listening on port 280. Keep scoming up in event log:

Could not open all web server ports, check for port conflicts, eg port 280, 50000, 50001, or 50002

There are no port conflicts and firewall is not running.

Install details:

Win 2012 R2 HyperV Image

Local SQL Express DB

I have reinstalled 3 times now with slightly different options and makes no difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HP-SIM 7.4 and SQL Support

I have a question about HP-SIM Version 7.4 and the SQL Server support.  It states in the Support Matrix that HP-SIM V7.4 supports only up to SQL 2012 SP1.

What I need to find out is will HP-SIM V7.4 support an SQL 2012 database intance that is running on an 2014 SQL Server?  If not is there a version of HP-SIM planned that will support 2014 SQL Server?

Thanks,

Phil

HP ProLiants now showing as Cisco equipment

I'm looking at a SIM server where HP ProLiant servers have been successfully monitored by SIM for some time.  However recently we have seen a large proportion of servers been reassigned as Cisco devices. The iLOs have become disassociated with their parent server.   Servers with hardware issues are now reporting no errors.

Has anyone seen this issue before or have any ideas on what might be causing it or know where to look? (mx.log doesn't appear to shed any light on it).

Performing Inline upgrade of HP SIM v6 to v7.4 ?

$

Hi,

I've got the older version of HP SIM that is running on an old DL 380 G5 server with the following version:

Version:  Systems Insight Manager 6.3 - Windows
Build version:  C.06.03.00.00
Build date:  2011-03-28 22:02

Windows Server 2008 R2 Std. No SP.

SQL Server 2008 Standard SP1 (same server)

what I'd like to do is to upgrade the server firmware with HP SPP 2015.04and also upgrade all of the software components into below:

Version: Systems Insight Manager 7.4 - Windows

Windows Server 2008 R2 Std. SP1.

SQL Server 2012 Standard SP2 (Different Server)

Can I do the inline upgrade by running the latest HP SIM v7.4 setup wizard ?

If anyone know the Step by steps or the official KB article to do the above upgrade and Database migration, please sahre it here.

Thanks in advance,

Using HP SIM in the Data Center to monitor old HP Servers across WAN with different IP ?

$

People,

I'm currently instaling and reconfiguring the HP SIM v7.4 in my Data Center to monitor several remote office sites (~75 sites) each equipped with multiple versions of server hardware like the following:

HP ML110 G4 (old P4) with no iLO

HP ML110 G5 with no iLO

HP DL160 G6

HP DL380 G5

...

HP ML 310 G8-V2

HP ML110 G9

All of those old servers has been installed manually using Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard.ISO and I've managed to configure the HP WBEM providerand HP Insight Management Agentmanually eventhough the download site doesn't list Windows Server 2012 R2 in the drop down list. But at least all of the servers can now send out email afterit is rebooting successfully.

I've enabled the Windows SNMP feature from the Server Manager.

My question is that, how can I configure HP SIM to send out alert for those old servers with no iLO / management processor ?

Are those old servers can still be monitored by HP SIM for a potential hardware failure or expiring contract ?

Thanks.

Trouble setting up HPSIM 7.4

Hello!

I have set up a new server for HPSIM but I've hit something of a brick wall with discovery..

the iLOs and OAs all discover fine, but when I start discovering the windows servers, I am unable to get them properly discovered.

I have updated SMH to the latest version on the server and even tried disabling UAC on both the HPSIM server and the target server, after googling this issue, but I still get this result.

The discovery log from one of the servers:

********* Significant issues and overall target discovery/identification
status:
Major: The system cannot be identified properly for HP SIM to manage;
unable to get one or more of the following: model, serial number or
unique identifier (UUID). For management processors, verify the
system is running the latest firmware. For Linux based operating
systems, you must have dmidecode installed, enable the
PermitRootLogin and PasswordAuthentication in sshd, and use root
sign-in credential. For HP-UX, verify the sign-in credential. For
Windows, check if WMIMapper is configured correctly on the CMS and
verify the sign-in credential.
Critical: The system(s) can not be identified by WBEM, SNMP or SSH

********* Additional results (listed for information only):

* Starting identification process...
* Checking for known running web servers...
* Checking for SNMP protocol support on system...
Normal: The system did not respond to SNMP. Verify security settings and
community strings in Options->Security->Credentials->System
Credentials
* Checking for SNMPv3 protocol support on system...
Normal: The system did not respond to SNMPv3. Verify security settings and
v3 credentials in Options->Security->Credentials->System

* Running HP ProLiant management agent identification...
Normal: The system does not support SNMP.
* Running SNMP base cluster identification using common cluster
MIB...
Normal: SNMP is not supported or globally disabled, skipping SNMP cluster
identification.
* Checking for WBEM protocol support on system...
Minor: This system does not have any SMI-S CIMOMs installed. No storage
systems will be found on this system.
Minor: The Central Management System (CMS) cannot communicate with the
CIMOM locally installed on the managed system using the WBEM
protocol, Identification will try to identify Windows systems using
the WMI Mapper as proxy; for Linux and HP-UX systems, check
credentials by going to Options->Security->Credentials->System
Credentials. For Linux systems also check if the HP WBEM provider
is installed.

Hi,

I'd like to install the current version of HP SIM v7.4 in the same physical server where currently the old HP SIM v6.3 is running.

How can I do it safely without losing the data in the HP SIM ?

Thanks.
