Hi. I've got HP Insight Manager 7.0 running under Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2 on a HP ProLiant DL380 G5. It's monitoring other physical (HP ProLiant) and virtual machines which are also running RHEL 6.2.
Using the Proliant Service Pack I've installed the hpsmhd, hp-health and hp-snmp-agents services/RPMs. HP SIM is happily monitoring these machines using SNMP:1.0, SSH:SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_5.3, SMH:2.0.
What I'd like to do is some basic 'process monitoring'. Have HP SIM send an event if process XXX stops running on a monitored machine. Start to use HP SIM for 'standard' monitoring as well as the specialised HP hardware/fault monitoring.
After searching the web I discovered that the 'HP Foundation Agent' can do this ... for a Windows client. That web page referered me to the equivalent for Linux - 'HP Insight Foundation Suite for Integrity with Linux'. I managed to find that software, but it is only for HP's 'Integrity' - i.e. Itanium processor - Linux machines.
I haven't been able to find any hint of the HP Insight Foundation Suite - aka the 'hpima' service/RPM? - for the x86_64 (or i386) versions of Linux.
Can anyone help?
My apologies if I've made a mess of the various acronyms; I'm really quite confused with all the various web pages and products out there with the words 'HP Insight' and 'Agent' included within. As a side issue, if anyone knows of a place where, on one page, a diagram or precis of all these various packages/products and how they interelate can be found, I would be most grateful! :-) Many thanks for any help.
