How to configure HP Systems Insight Manager to remove supervision from multiple cards

$

Bonjour,

Bien cordialement.

How to configure HP Systems Insight Manager to remove supervision from multiple cards
Hello,

Our supervision traces us errors on network cards present on an HP Proliant DL380 G6 server.

The server has 4 network cards (see http://i64.tinypic.com/2im6gq0.png), 3 of which are disconnected and one is connected. (see image in url)

However, this generates many error messages on the IML:

We want to know if it is possible to configure HP SIM to disable monitoring of 3 network cards that are no longer connected? Or disable the monitoring of the 3 cards in question via the IML. This will avoid alerts of the type "Unknown", because when the IML gets heavier, it increases the duration of our check and therefore created latencies on the feedback of our supervision.

For information :

Currently we use Shinken (Thruck) as a supervision tool with Nagios plugin "check_hpasm".

Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Best regards.

Hi All,

I have installed HPE SIM 7.6 in HPUX 11iV3 machine with all the prerequistes matching.

i have configured SNMPv3 between CMS server and Managed system using SNMP Research EMANATE Agent Version 17.3.0.5

In HPE SIM web gui i am able to see that SNMPv3 is configured messege in Discovery task.

But i am not sure how to check traps and in which location traps will be received in CMS server.

and i need to configure CMS server in such a way that if there is any hardware failure then immediately respective traps need to be sent to HPE SIM CMS server.

Please help in overcoming the mentioned issues. :)

Thanks in advance

********* Significant issues and overall target discovery/identification
status:
Minor: The discovered VM guest is not associated with the VM host. Verify
that the supported HPE Insight Management Agents or WBEM providers
are installed on the host, and verify that the host has been
discovered. For an association between Citrix XenServer host and
its virtual machines, the HPE Insight Control virtual machine
management (VMM) software must be installed and the VM Host must be
registered in VMM.
Major: The system cannot be identified properly for HPE SIM to manage;
unable to get one or more of the following: model, serial number or
unique identifier (UUID). For management processors, verify the
system is running the latest firmware. For Linux based operating
systems, you must have dmidecode installed, enable the
PermitRootLogin and PasswordAuthentication in sshd, and use root
sign-in credential. For HP-UX, verify the sign-in credential. For
Windows, check if WMIMapper is configured correctly on the CMS and
verify the sign-in credential.
Critical: There are no valid WBEM / WMI credentials for the system(s).

G8 ilo's can't connect to remote host for Data Collection

After upgrading to the 2.6 firmware on all of my servers, now my G8 servers are reporting "Cannot connect to remote host" when trying to send data collection.  My G9's seem to be reporting fine.  I've confirmed connectivity (and I even have a G8 and G9 at the same location configured the same, the G9 connects, the G8 does not).

When I was investigating I checked my DNS server and it seems it is doing a lookup for services-isee.hp.com, but that DNS lookup is failing.  I even did a DNS lookup elsewhere to confirm it just wasn't my DNS server having issues.

Anyone else having this issue?  Any known fix?

Service Pack for ProLiant Version 2018.06.0 (English (US),Chinese (Simplified),Japanese)

I have a Service Pack for ProLiant Version 2018.06. It keeps reporting the same 9 componets as not in the catalog

Example:

hp-i40e-kmp-default-2.4.6.1_k4.4.21_69-4.sles12sp2.x86_64.rpm - The referenced component is not in the catalog.

The compsig file is there, the component i in the repository directory and it is listed in the catalog.  There is no mnf file. Is there a way to force recreation of the MNF file.  I have tried removing etc...

I just started using SIM and have tried rebuilding the catalog removing the files from the catalog.  I don't need the components so I just  want to remove them from the catalog.

Also I see if I automatically download the files, I can exclude various types of patchs that are for OS's we do not use.  Is there a way to add just the files I want and exclude the others?
I am looking for documentation, on the net, but I am in a hurry and if it is simple It would speed up the process.

Predictive Warning on SSD without error

$

Hi,

We have several servers using MK0200GCTYV SSD.

In HPE SIM we get warnings on these, but when we check error counters in ADU, they are still at zero..

We think an internal counter in the SSD may trigger the warning but we cannot find it

The workload statics show for the drive on average 58.6 months 589.7 TB written Workload 1.18TB/m
The Wear Gauge however displays some weird numbers

Status - OK

Supported - TRUE

Log Full - FALSE

Utilization -1.280000

Power On Hours - 42825

Has Smart Trip SSD Wearout - FALSE

Remaining Days Until Wearout - 137619

Has 56 Day Warning - FALSE

Has Utilization Warning - NONE

What does Utilization mean in this respect?

How can it be we have 137619 days left on the device and get errors

Does the Predictive warning mean/indicate the drive is at its end-of-life (almost 5 years in us) and is exceeding write threshold.? The Wearout Treshold is FALSE according to Wear Gauge

mxexport failed - Migration Failed.Error while packing HPE System Insight Manager migration files.

Hello All

Currently I have a problem, actually from the begining of this year I opened a case at HPE support unfortunately no solution yet, and I feel a little bit pushed to do a fresh install and move systems manually, which is not good for me as there are a lot of systems with unknown credentials(wbem, sign in) + custom collections + system details, etc.

My own investigation lead me to Credential table, some data present there is inconsistent, unfortunately I have no cloue right now how to find the faulty data.

What I did I deleted all Credentials table from databes and mxexport executed succesfully, so the problem is isolated to that table....

Any thoughts?

SIM Capacity

I took over repsonsiblity for SIM from someone a month ago.  I have just started working with it and have a question about capacity and handling of Support Packs in the Version control manager.

How many componets can a VCRM s handle? I am trying to understand how to manage the Repository.

It seems like SIM has a real problem when the componets reach about 2000

Do people keep only one support pack at a time, when a new one comes out do you delete the old one?

I am constantly baby sitting the SIM server and Version Control Repository Manager, so I am trying to figure out how people use it successfully.

How many componets can the VCRM handle?

Use Amplifier Pack to completely replace SIM?

$

I just discovered HPE Amplifier Pack.  Seems pretty cool...

Assuming I have all GEN8, GEN9, and GEN10 servers...can I completely replace HPE SIM with it?  Is there anything that SIM would still provide that Amplifier pack cannot?  It seems like it can do inventory, alerting, and firmware deployments...all of which SIM can do.  The new version appears to support server groups...so does that mean I can group servers by support analyst and then filter the alerts to the specific person on my team that supports that groups of servers...like I can currently do with SIM?

Thanks

Proliant DL380 Gen 9 - HPE System ManageMent Homepage 7.6 (Agents 10.6)  longer seems to have the ability to Clear a ASR event.

Yet I can do so with our very old Compaq Insight Manager 5.5 utility.  (early 2000's) with a click of a button.

Anyone run into simular issues with the newer software ?

Insight Manager Reporting a degraded condition

I have a server that is reporting a degraded condition, this was first an issue with one of the power supplies but that has been corrected but I am still getting the following with snmpwalk:

[root@servername:~]# snmpwalk -v 1 -c dataremote localhost enterprises.232.6.1.3.0
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.232.6.1.3.0 = INTEGER: 3

I dig a little deeper and I can find that it appears to be a condition in a log (I believe):
[root@servername:~]# snmpwalk -v 1 -c dataremote localhost 1.3.6.1.4.1.232.6.2.2.2.0
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.232.6.2.2.2.0 = INTEGER: 1

I would go through the IML to find any entries in there that need to be marked as repaired but before this was brough to my attention someone cleared the IML without making sure everything was marked repaired. I have checked both the iLO and System Management Home Page and can find nothing alerting.

Is there a way to clear this?

HPE SIM - Migrate from Local Database to SQL

Hi all,

I am trying to Migrate HPE SIM from the Local Express Database to a full SQL server (SQL 2016.)  SIM is on the latest 7.6 build.

I found a procedure and the process failed, SIM would not start.

I have been digging and cannot find any other procedures.

Does anyone have the best procedure to use to migrate the database?

New HPSIM server

Hello guys,

Long story short - we have new HPSIM 7.6 server w2012r2

We are not doing mxexport -> import due to DB issues

We have configured the new SIM and have few questions:

- once switched the IPs of old<->new SIM, will the devices in the new SIM be still monitored by the new SIM (both IPs are in the SNMP service, (DNS reg will be forced))

- what about the certificate issued by the new SIM, is this certificate required for normal monitoring? AFAIK this certificate is used only for remote tasks and SSO?

- once the IP is changed on the new server, is there anything else beside the restart of the SIM services?

Please feel free to add anything usefull for this task :)

HP SIM 7.6 and SMI-S

I have searched high and low, can someone please point me to a download?

I have several MSA arrays with an SMI-S interface, and SIM is supposed to work with that. But, I don't have an SMI-S protocol or discovery option. I presume there is an install that will result in that.  Or, maybe that was an option at installation, and the person who set this system up did not select it? Either way, I don't know how to get where I want to go.

Thanks

System Discovery in HP Insight Manager

Hi,

HP Insight Systems Manager 7.6.0 windows is installed and it has discovered all the servers in the infrastructure except for 2 servers. When discovery is run pointing to the servers IP it resolves to DNS name and discovery completes successfully, but does not show up in the HP Insight Manager. These server's ILO has been discovered and are showing up.

Checked the Hosts file and I see an entry for these 2 servers. Any way to add these 2 servers to Manager to get alerts?

Thank you.
