I have a customer that has installed the HP SIM 7.1 plugin on Vshere 5.1 web client.  When any of the "Credentials" options under HP Insight Management are selected the following error appears:

 

"Internal Error Occured contact HP Support"

However, I need the info. on Costing of HPSIM license, registration cost, HPSIM overall cost, any additonal cost (if any).

A few issues with HP SIM 7.2

Hi All,

 

I have just upgraded my HPSIM installation from v7.0 to 7.2 and am now having some problems.

 

Several of my servers are now showing this when I log into the system management homepage:

 

Management Processor: none Data Source: none System model: unknown

 

There is also a lot of information missing from the SMHP which I guess is related.

 

The other issue is that for the servers that are showing the SMHP correctly, I cannot view their software status.  It appears as a blue question mark in HPSIM.  All the usual tricks (reconnecting servers to repository, reauthenticating etc) dont seem to be working to resolve this.

 

I have attached a few images of the problem.

 

Hopefully someone can help!

Predictive drive failure severity Warning

I recently had a predictive physical drive failure on a server that was missed due to the severity level.  The event was (SNMP) Physical Drive Status Change (3046).  The event severity was Warning  The event shows the Event trap as cpqdaphysdrvstatus.  In SNMP Trap Settings I find the matching Event Type under Trap Name dpqda7physdrivestatuschange, and the severity is set to Critical.   How do I get this to show up as a critical event?

Hello,

 

I want to monitor the managed server in HP SIM via SNMP. I know that I have to install some agents on the managed servers to ensure that all works fine.

But in other posts I read that there are several agents to monitor different SNMP infos. So I'm not sure which ones I need to install. I want to monitor as much infos as possible.

 

Can you please provide me the names of the needed SNMP agents or even bether the download links?

Hi All

 

I have a bunch of servers all running CentOS 6.4 x64.

I have installed the rpms (yum localinstall *.rpm) from the downloaded zip and everything gets installed nicely.

 

The HP System Management Homepage works fine.

However the server alerts being generated by the software don't...

 

If I unplug a network cable for example, HP Insight Manager sends me an email alerting me of something totally useless.... eg:

Now I have totally no idea what that means, so I need to login to the Management Home page and find out.

But some times the alert clears before I get a chance to see (eg im sleeping) - which makes me curious what on earth went on...

 

I have raised the issue with HP but with no luck...

 

Form the looks of it - I may be missing a mib file which is needed to translate the hex code or TrapID?

 

Has any one have any suggestions on how to fix this?

HP Insight Control agent for vcenter fails to connect OA and VC Manager

Dear all,

 

I was wondering if there's anyone else having the same issue

I have installed and configured HPSIM, as well as Insight Control Agent for vCenter. I have configured successfully the SSO certificate so that the agent can't authenticate with SIM, i have added under server password the usernames and passwords of all iLo, OA, VC compontents (and dont ask: the creds are fine), but it seems that there is a communication issue between the agent and the OA -> and hence with VC Manager too.

 

I have latest build up to today (Sep 09 2013) of HPSIM and vCenter agent. Latest OA firmware (3.71) as well as latest firmare of VC Manager (4.01). See also the screenshot i am receiving on my esxi blade under HP Insight Manager -> Settings -> Communication Status tab.

 

Looking into the vcenter agent's logs, the only error i could actualy understand is a sort of HTTP 404 error, but nothing verbose.

 

Any idea how to troubleshot better or any idea what could be wrong? I suspect the issue is somewhere between vcenter agent and onboard administrator, as HPSIM and iLO components respond just fine. VC would be accessible via the OA, so that is why i ended up looking for the problem there.

HPSIM 7.2. How to make server answer to 5989 (WBEM/WMI)

Hi!

 

SIM will not identify/discover server using WBEM. I get different messages, but I believe it boils down to server communication on port 5989.

 

I have a hard time trying to configure the client 2008 R2 servers answer to "telnet <host> 5989" from SIMserver..

 

Even servers on same VLAN/Subnet will not get identified by HPSIM.

I have managed to get one 2008 R2 server to be picked up by HPSIM, and that is a CommandView EVA-server. I'm not able to tell the difference of this server ant the other servers I try to identify/discover.  Thought mybe the presence of Pegasus WMI Mapper Service, but I responds to the telnet command even when that service is stopped..

 

I try the telnet-command locally using its own IP - but no luck.

(The SIMserver answers to the telnet command from other servers.)

 

 

I have installed spp 2013020(B) + "HP Insight ManagementWBEM Providers for Windows Server x64 Editions" (cp017534.exe) in addition to all components selected automatically.

 

 

Could anybody tell me what service/program actually answers to 5989, and which component to install?

Issue discovering HP StoreOnce D2D units

I have two HP G3 StoreOnce D2D backup units. I have compiled and imported the MIB file, and can discover the units via SNMP. However, the serial numbers it obtains are not the correct serials, but the cluster ID (i.e. HPMXQXXXXXXX instead of MXQXXXXXXX). This is problematic when SIM discovers the iLO interfaces, as it creates two additional servers because the serials don't match. I've tried to change the cluster ID to match the serial number, but the reason the HP prefix is there is because there is a minimum length. Is there a workaround for this?

I am having issues trying to server model whilst trying to add a new collection, when I goto 'Choose members by Attributes' not all of the HP Proliant models are there. Does anyone know how to update this list.

Do I still need VCAgent to DEPLOY updates from SIM (7.2)?

I was under the impression that the VCAGENT had been depreciated and was no longer needed.  So today I took the bold step of removing it from some servers and then tried to use SIM 7.2 "Update to baseline..." tool to push out the updated files to one of those machines.  So I see my schedule task running and it kicks off a second task called "Install Software and Firmware VCA" that fails.  I guess this is to be expected since I removed VCA.  But then the main task eventually fails and gives me this error:

 

Requested target not found
HTTP Status 404: Agent is not active or invalid request.

 

So I am confused.  In my task I provided it user credentials as to avoid the need for VCA using the radio button called:

 

"Install on systems where VCA is not present. Use the specified administrator credentials below"

 

OK - so why did this not work?  I told it VCA was not there and gave it valid credentials...

 

What am I missing?

OnLine Insight Diag 9.50.1009.0 Cosmetic Failure

After installing the new InsightDiag 9.50.1009.0 (cp020834) it represent itself as 9.5.0.1009 in the VCA Installed Version column (standard W2K8R2 on a DL380pGen8)

Because of that the VCA thinks it is under level, and overall installation becomes yellow instead of green.

Force again the installation of cp020834 doesn't solve, it tells that its new installation is correct ..

 

Is there a solution for this failure ?

I dont seem to be getting a way around it.

 

I could attach the FW Baseline only to Servers

SIM does not display system health status and firmware information

Hi

 

I recently provisioned a new SIM server, version 7.2. I installed on windows 2008 R2 with MS SQL edition as db.

after the installation and the necessary snmp configrations, I discovered the hosts, I was surprised to see that HP SIM doesn't show the health status of any servers.

 

Even Firmware details are not shown.

 

1. from the hosts side, I restarted all the agents and deleted the host from SIM and rediscovered. But no luck.

 

HPVCRM Automatic update issue

I have une server running VCRM 7.2.2.0

 

I upload on server only latest support pack for Proliant and Windows 2008 R2.

I set VCRM to download updates only for Windows 2008 R2.

When I start automatic updates VCRM download all proliant packages for all supported OS.

 

When update finish VCA became very slow and often SMHP report a timeout error.

 

I can't find how solve and why it download everything if I check only W2008R2 in repository update settings.

Is there a way to have VCRM avoid a reindex every time the host OS needs to be reabooted? Its annoying because a reboot of the OS suddenly means 3 hours of reindexing and the inabilty to use the VCRM on client machines.

 

I am running the latest 7.2.2 version.

I am having issues discovering some servers in SIM 7.1, I get the following msg, all the SNMP settings are correct, any help would be much appreciated

          unique identifier (UUID). For management processors, verify the
          system is running the latest firmware. For Linux based operating

          PermitRootLogin and PasswordAuthentication in sshd, and use root
          sign-in credential. For HP-UX, verify the sign-in credential. For
          Windows, check if WMIMapper is configured correctly on the CMS and
          verify the sign-in credential.
